Version 1.62:

Feurio! CD-Manager:

  • Reading Cue-Sheet Files:
Feurio! can now read "Cue-Sheet-Files". "Cue-Sheet-Files" contain information on track marks for example and are generated among others by CdrWin and EAC - thus Feurio! can now directly read files generated by CdrWin or EAC.
Call up the function: "Project" -> "Generate Project from Cuesheet file".

  • Generate Project from Playlist:
Now a new project can be generated directly from a playlist by calling up the function: "Project" -> "Generate Project from Playlist". This avoids the longer route via "Generate project", "Import Playlist" and thus makes it possible to quickly generate a project from a WinAmp playlist for example.

  • Read Nero 5.5-Images Files:
Now Feurio! can also read the image files generated by Nero 5.5.

  • CDDB Revision Marks:
Feurio! now supports the "CDDB Revision Marks". The revision marks are necessary if you want to send corrected database entries to the CDDB-Server.
Note: You will have to re-import the CDDB database if you want to correct entries as that is the only way to import revision marks which may exist (the CDDB-Server only accepts corrected entries if the revision mark of the new entry is higher than that of the old entry).

  • Error Corrections:
On some CD-ROM drives the following appeared if no CD had been inserted: "Error on querying the drive".
The reason for this is that these drives do not support a certain command which Feurio! uses to query the status of the caddy (and can thus e.g. display the message: "Caddy open", "No CD inserted").
Feurio! will now independently determine whether the drive supports this command and if not, will not use it.

Feurio! CD-Writer:

  • Supports JustSpeed (Adaptive Speed Control):
The Ricoh 7200 is offering a "new" function: "JustSpeed"(Adaptive Speed Control). JustSpeed automatically adapts the write speed to the medium inserted, i.e. the writer analyzes the CD-Rs inserted and if needed, turns the maximum write speed down.
Now Justspeed can be deactivated as an option (In the main dialog press the "Expanded >>"-switch and deactivate the "JustSpeed" switch), so that the writer always offers the maximum possible write speed (20x).

  • CD-Text with image copies:
Feurio! saves "Images" as "normal" Feurio! projects, i.e. the parameters of an image can also be edited - for this reason, in the case of an image copy, the CD text data has always been re-calculated until now as soon as the image was reloaded.
Many users have asked for the "Original" CD-Text information to remain.
So we have changed the behavior now as follows:
If CD-Text information was read when generating a CD-Image, this is now also saved in the project and written onto the target CD unchanged. If the project is changed in the CD manager, then the next time you try to burn, a dialog box will appear in which you can select whether the ,"Original CD-Text information" is to be burned or whether the CD-Text information should be regenerated.

  • Supports Cue-Sheet files, Mp3 playlists; Drag&Drop support:
Feurio!® now also supports "Cue-Sheet files". Cue-Sheet files are generated for example by CdrWin® or EAC® and contain information on the track distribution of a CD. So now a CD can be burned directly from the Cue-Sheet file.

  • Directly loads Cue-Sheet files, Mp3 playlists; Drag&Drop support:
Under "Program" there is now a new entry: "Load / import project". With the aid of this entry you can directly load and burn a Feurio! Project file, an mp3 playlist, a Cue-Sheet file or a Nero or Iso image without having to generate a project first.
The Feurio!® CD-Writer also now supports "Drag&Drop", i.e. instead of calling up this function, the Feurio! project file, the playlist file, the cuesheet file or the Nero image can simply be dragged into the Feurio!® CD-Writer window using Drag&Drop - the file is then automatically loaded and can then be burned with just one more click.

  • Problems writing CD-Text and playing back the first track with TEAC 512/516:
Several users reported to us that CDs which had been burned with CD text using the TEAC 512/516 could not be played back correctly on several CD players:
The CDs got "stuck" in the first few seconds, but then subsequently they would run perfectly.
We then tested this extensively here but were not able to reproduce the problem. In version 1.61.4 / the driver update 1.61.5, we then reset the write mode for the TEAC 512/516 to "RAW". This seemed to have solved the problem - according to the testers the CDs can now be played correctly.
Unfortunately other testers then reported that now CD text is no longer displayed correctly on some players.
So we subsequently started a HUGE series of test with different CD players and CD-Rs and have conducted in depth discussions with TEAC.
There really seem to be some problems here which only appear with certain CD-Rs and certain players with a certain command sequence.
We have now set the driver back to "Cue-Sheet Mode" and in conjunction with TEAC changed the sequence of the write commands - now writing should work without any problems - all tests we conducted worked well, anyway. However as the problem only seems to appear with certain constellations, we unfortunately can not guarantee that it has been solved 100% - please test extensively!
    Reports back are welcome!

  • "Do not close CD" for recorders which are not capable of Session-at-Once:
Many CD recorders unfortunately do not support "Session-at-Once" mode (they only support writing in Raw mode) - which is why the button "Do not close CD" has always been deactivated in Feurio! so far and the CD has always been closed.
We have now found out that with SOME recorders it is possible to work around this limitation, by writing the necessary information to continue the CD in RAW mode. Unfortunately this can not be used to make a 100% correct Session-at-Once recording: Although in Raw mode you can write the "Next-Session-Pointers", unfortunately it is not possible to update the "PMA area" of the CD-R (as far as we are aware).
The consequence of this is that the burned CD is not recognized as being "open" by all CD recorders - many CD recorders check the PMA area and only recognize a CD with a correct PMA area as being open.
We have tested the following recorders so far:
    Mitusumi 4804, 4805:
Works, i.e. "Do not close CD" can now be activated
Acer 4x4x32, Tevion 4x4x32 and similar (ATAPI CD-RW xxx):
Does not work, i.e. the recorders do not accept CDs without correct PMA -> "Do not close CD" can not be activated.
Philips CDD 3801, 4401, 4801.. and similar (IDE CD-RW xxx, many Waitec and Traxdata models):
Does not work, i.e. the recorders do not accept CDs without correct PMA -> "Do not close CD" can not be activated.

  • Changes in the Writer drivers:
Unfortunately we have to slightly change the Writer concept for Feurio!:
Until now there has been a special driver for every "Writer class" in the "Drivers" folder of Feurio!.
Unfortunately the number of new CD writers has "exploded" - slowly it is no longer possible to generate a special driver for every writer. Luckily it is no longer necessary either, as in the meantime the writer can understand relatively uniform commands (MultiMedia-Commandset) - there are only "minor" differences now (e.g. for BurnProof, JustLink etc.).
We are currently working on changing the driver concept so that in future there will only be ONE standard driver for ALL MMC compatible writers; internally this driver has a table with the peculiarities of the individual writers - and of course the corresponding program code. Thus, even with this "Universal driver", all peculiarities of the corresponding CD writers will be supported just as well as they ever were!
All new writers which we are implementing in Feurio! will be linked in with this "Universal driver".
At the same time we are gradually transferring all the old writers to this new concept, the following writers have been "transferred" so far:
    Mitsumi 4804
    Mitsumi 4805
    LG 8080, 8081, 8083
    Acer 4x4x32, 6x4x32, 8x4x32, 10x4x32.. and compatible (e.g. Tevion 4x4x43)
    Memorex TwelveMax 1032
    Matushita UJDA 310
    Ricoh 7120/7125/9120
    Philips CDD 3801 (IDE-CD R/RW 2x2x24) and compatible (Waitec 2224, Traxdata CDRW2224, Memorex CDRW-222 etc.)
    Teac 512EB/512SB/516EB
    Plextor Plexwriter 1210A, 1210S, 1610A

If there should be any problems with any of these writers, please mail us!
For all writers NOT listed here everything remains the same, i.e. they will still be approached via the "old" drivers!

  • Improvements for VIA Motherboards:
As we have been contacted with an increasing number of "cries for help" from Feurio! Users with VIA Motherboards, we have now got hold of a computer with a VIA chipset and included several special adaptations for the VIA-Busmaster driver in Feurio!
In particular we have been able to correct some problems which occurred when burning under Windows 2000 with a Via-Busmaster driver which was not quite up-to-date.

  • New CD burners:
The following burners are now supported as well:
    NEC NR-8500A (incl. CD-Text)
    Traxdata CDRW161040 Plus (no guarantee)
    Ricoh RW7200A (incl. CD-Text)
    Ricoh RW7163A (incl. CD-Text)
    NEC NR-8500A (incl. CD-Text)
    Sony CRX 0811 (incl. CD-Text)
    CyberDrive CW018D (incl. CD-Text)
    LG CED-8120B (incl. CD-Text)
    Plextor Plexwriter 24/10/40 (incl. CD-Text)

  • Improved support for CD burners:
We have been able to improve support by Feurio! for the following burners as we have now received test models from the manufacturers and have thus been able to extensively test the burners:
    LG 8080B
    NEC NR-7700A
    Ricoh MP7125A
    Ricoh MP9120A
