Feurio Questions & Answers - Feurio! CD-Writer
general questions:
I don't want to write the CD all at once but one
track at a time , how do I do it?
Question: I want to burn an Audio-CD
not at once but a track at a time, i.e. I want to burn one track now, the next
later, the next later etc. and then finalize the CD at some point. How do I do
it?
Answer: You can't do it with Feurio!
Explanation:
Feurio! basically records CDs in the Disc-at-Once mode (Exception:
The recorder doesn't support Disc-at-Once). In Disc-at-Once mode - as already
implied by the name - the CD has to be recorded in a SINGLE go. So you can NOT
add a track later.
This would only be possible in Track-at-Once mode.
In Track-at-Once unfortunately it is not possible to create "perfect" Audio-CDs:- Faulty
area between the tracks:
Normally a CD consist of a continuous groove (similar to a
vinyl record). In contrast, a Track-at-Once recording means the laser is switched
off between tracks, so when it "starts again" there is therefore a "break" in
the groove which has the effect of being a faulty area. In particular "Disc-Mans"
with "Anti-Shock-Protection" have problems with this - the players read the data
a certain length of time in advance. When they get to the "defective" area, they
often get stuck.
- No linked tracks
As in Track-at-Once mode the laser is always switched off between
tracks, a small pause always occurs between the tracks - so it is not always
possible to burn tracks whihc run into each other (e.g. live recordings, mixes)
- this "gap" can ALWAYS be heard.
- Problems calculating the capacity
The pause that the burner inserts between the tracks is not
calculated exactly - so deviations in the calculation of the play time required
can occur - in the extreme a song may longer completely "fit" onto the CD-R.
- Problems with different Index 0 lengths
In Track-at-Once Modus (depending on the burner) it is not
possible to burn certain Index 0 lengths. Some burners ALWAYS burn 2 seconds,
other burners allow variation of the Index 0 length - but unfortunately only
in a certain area specific to the burner.
- No Index 0 music
It is also not possible to "hide" music in the Index 0 part
of a track.
Due to these factors, Track-at-Once is not supported by Feurio!
With recorders which do not support Disc-at-Once, it is "simulated" as well as
possible through Track-at-Once commands. But you can not make use of the Track-at-Once
advantages here.
A Track-at-Once recording as described above is in principle completely different
than a Disc-at-Once recording and would require a completely different program
concept (e.g. it would no longer make sense to separate CD Manager - CD Burner).
