Feurio Questions & Answers - General questions
on the Feurio! CD-Manager:
Automatic Repeat / Reduction of read speed after
C2 errors?
Question: Wouldn't it be a good idea if after a C2 error Feurio! automatically
tried to read the sector again and/or reduced the read speed?
Answer: NO - that would be counter-productive. As described under "C2-errors",
C2 errors CAN BE CORRECTED. This means the data read as a general rule is correct
- C2 errors are to be seen more as a "Warning".
If you now repeat the sector after a C2 error
has occurred and/or reduce the read speed, the CD-ROM would have to restart.
The risk of an error occurring with the restart is greater than the risk of errors
not being corrected with the C2 error recognition
.
Thus an option of this kind would on average provide WORSE data!
