Feurio Questions & Answers - Feurio! CD-Writer
problem-solving:
CPU-Load while reading in tracks / during burning
Question: While reading in tracks from a CD or while burning a CD, the CPU
load is relatively high, shouldn't it really just be a few percent?
Answer: There are several possibilities here: - IDE-devices without a busmaster
driver:
Unfortunately some Windows versions operate IDE devices (i.e. IDE-CD-ROMs as
well as IDE-CD-Writer) in the "Programmed IO-Mode", i.e. the CPU actively sends
every byte to the device and also actively receives every byte. This of course
costs a lot of computing time!
To solve this, a "busmaster driver" has to
be installed.
On this, see "busmaster driver"
- Burning from MP3 files:
If you burn compressed audio data (MP3 files), it has to be decoded during burning.
This decoding takes up quite a bit of computing time!
