Feurio ®Professional - Maximum Possible Number Of CD-Writers  

The maximum possible number of CD-Writers depends on the system you´re using.
Escpecially the SCSI bus is the "bottleneck". The currently available CD-Writers "only" support normal SCSI or Fast-SCSI (5 or 10 MB/second). At 8x recording speed a permanent! transfer rate of  1.5 MB/ second is required - in terms of figures this would be a maximum of 3 recorders ("normal" SCSI) or 7 (Fast-SCSI) for each SCSI channel.

The following configurations were experimentally checked:

• 8 TEAC CD-R 56 (Recording speed: 6x)
  (System: Pentium II, 266 Mhz, 64 MB Ram, Windows NT, 2 SCSI channels)
  
  
• 10 Plextor 820 (Recording speed: 8x)
  
  
• 16 TEAC CD-R 58 (Recording speed: 8x)
  (System: Pentium III 800 Mhz, Windows 2000, 4 SCSI channels, CPU load: ca. 20%)

Even more recorders should be possible if more SCSI channels were available (by using e. g. more SCSI controllers or Dual-Channel SCSI controllers) - but until now we were not able to figure out the real limit, we simply don´t have enough CD-Writers available.
