Frequently Asked Questions About Updates
- Which update program shall I use?
If you are not sure which update program to take - simply take the Installation
Program!
The installation program recognizes a present Feurio! installation and updates
it (but all parameters are kept). Or you take the 1st update program (Feurio_Update_168_167_eng.exe
). This update program is able to update ALL Feurio! versions since 1.30 (For
older versions the Installation Program
has to be used.)
- Why are there different update programs at all if the installation
program is also able to update?
There is only one reason: The file size! The update programs only contain
the CHANGED data and that´s why they are smaller - and this is really
the ONLY diffrence! So if you are not sure, you can easily take the installation
program - the only disadvantage is the download size.
- How do I update a Beta version?
You can always update the Beta versions with the update program for the last
major release (Example: You have installed Beta version 1.50.4 - use the update
program for version 1.50 then).
Condition: The Beta update program always makes a backup of the last version
- this backup has still to exist. If you have deleted the backup files, you
have to use the installation program or the update program for all Feurio!
versions (Feurio_Update_168_167_eng.exe ).
- Can my Feurio! installation be damaged by a "wrong" update
program?
No. The update checks automatically if the "correct" Feurio! version
is present and displays an error message if necessary.
- Is my registration code still valid or do I have to purchase a new license?
As promised: All updates for Feurio! 1.xx are FREE. Your license is still
vaild, you can use Feurio! as usual and use the new features FOR FREE!
- Do I have to de-install Feurio! before updating?
No.
- The installation of the update does not work, although I have download
the "correct" version
As mentioned above, the "small" update programs only contain changed
data (i. e.these updates contain instructions like: "Take x bytes from
position y of old Feurio.exe, add z new bytes, then take r bytes from position
t of old Feurio.exe"). These "small" update programs have to
refer to the old program files then - therefore the update program simply
aborts if the old program code does not 100% correspond with the "expected"
data.
In this case simply use the Installation Program
or the update program for all Feurio! versions (Feurio_Update_168_167_eng.exe
)!
